Next-Generation Electric Models
Volvo vehicles aren’t strangers to the electric segment. There is already a plethora of Volvo electric vehicles (EVs) available. However, the next-generation models are each branded with the ‘EX’ prefix to make it easier to distinguish them as EVs. That includes the Volvo EX40, a compact SUV, and the Volvo EX60, a midsize SUV.
Existing Electric Inventory
Many of these new ‘EX’ models are rebranded versions of current Volvo models. In fact, the Volvo EX40 is very similar to the Volvo XC40 Recharge. Its style and powertrain are mostly unchanged. It has a few key differences; the Ultimate trim is now the Ultra trim, and it has a few exciting performance upgrades.
All-Electric Powertrains
Both the Volvo EX40 and the Volvo EX60 are all-electric SUVs. The Volvo EX40 is equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor which generates up to 248 horsepower and boasts a notable 293-mile electric range. It’s available with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, giving it up to 402 horsepower and a 254-mile range.* The Volvo EX60 should also be available with two powertrains, although the specific ratings haven’t been released yet.
